A day in the life and home of a child in an informal settlement.

I don’t like it because there is no privacy my house. When is rained it was very loud and I slipped but we can’t go to the hospital because we can’t afford it. I had to go to school the next morning, I walked barefoot and my leg was very sore. At school I shared a desk with my friend but I struggled to focus. Last night I didn’t have food I just had a piece of bread. Earlier this afternoon my mom managed to get me a glass of water but she had to walk two kilometers to get the water. We have no doors on the toilets and the toilets are long drop toilets. Our house has a lot of leaks in the roofs and I struggle to sleep because I have to share a bed with my three siblings.I get scared when I walk to school by myself because it’s not safe. My mom took my grandma to the hospital to get a check up. She has to wake up at five o clock in the morning. She has to stand in ques. My dad tries to get work and today he got a job. I was very happy! I need to go to sleep because tomorrow is school and the lady is coming to make soup. My grandma managed to get to the hospital and see the doctor and she is fine. Today was a good day and people came and gave us some clothes and it was very kind if them. I wish I had a bed to sleep at night because my back is very sore when I wake up in the morning. We had a big leak in our house yesterday and in the night and it fell in my face. My mom fell sick and is not feeling well and I am worried because see can’t see the doctor. I wish we had toilets in our houses. I don’t like it that I must go a fetch water. At night I am scared of the dark and it has been raining lately and I am worried about a flood. Today a girl came and gave us a soccer ball and that was a upside to a bad day. I wish I had shoes. I am ok with the informal settlement because it teaches me a lot.

My name is Jesse and this is what happened when our music inspector came to visit.

Our music inspector came last week Monday and he look horrible.I was terrified I didn’t want him there. We came in without greeting us. “Hello Mr. Raymond” we said. “Hello you little creatures” he said,”Today I am going to see how well or not so well you can sing.” My heart stopped I didn’t want to sing, for anyone never mind him.

“Mr. Ray-mon-d can I go to the bathroom?” I said “No you rat!” he said. I felt a tear of fear running down my face,as I went to go sit down he called me. “ Yes Mr. Raymond” I said “Stop crying like a little baby” he said, “You can go first.” I sang Modelater. Once everyone had gone and we went home I told my father and that was the end of Mr. Raymond.

Insect project

This term we did all about insects.
We were put into groups to design our own insect.
My insect name is Color.
It has a colorful body.
We each added a part to the group insect. I did these parts of the body - the stinger and the wings.
The stinger will  be made out of paper.
The wings are going to be made out of tinfoil.
We had a head,thorax,abdomen,compound eyes and a stinger.
First we planed our insect and then we made it.
It was fun to see what our insect would be like.
There where 5 people in our group-Myself,Dylan W,David,Louis and Bailey.

Stranded on the Island

• When I realized I was stranded I felt scared and worried.
• My biggest fear was how am I going to find food and water.
• My aim was to get off the island alive.
• The first thing I saw was the sea.
• I don't like to be a leader because if something goes wrong I will be the one they will look at.

Simonsberg Camp 2017

On camp we could swim and we made a world pool.It was so much fun.I found the obstacle course very challenging.I had my friends to support me.The people at camp did actives with us.My favourite actives was the blindfold challenge.
